Polytantric Circle Reunion

A meeting on Max’s land in Wales, of the original crowd from Friday to Monday August bank holiday this year. Fran and Max are arranging it, lets get high and talk about old times…. At the Hayfield, Llwyn Piod (It’s the hippy community’s 30th Birthday). A special shed has been raised to preserve Dutch Martins truck, which took the first stage to the stones in the Summer of 1975 at the New Kings Barrows site, plus many other times later, Dr. John Pollard, Berkeley Cal., now UCL took it in 1976 with us, after the second Trentishoe free festival in Cornwall, in his big army truck. In 1977 it was back to Martins truck. History of Stonehenge Stages – It was playwright Heathcote Williams idea, Steve Herman told us & Max John’s truck. Me (Willy x) & my home made lights & the white panthers generator (sister organization of the black panthers) plus, Alice, Arthur Wally & others put the 1st stage on, plus radio Caroline & a local band from Amesbury called “never bend over” for the winter solstice 1974, it was foggy & with the lights manually flicked on & off fast a fantastic psychedelic strobe Effect (perhaps the acid helped) plenty of bands said they would come but this taught me a lesson for the next year when radio Caroline pulled out as the main advertisers as well as Wally hope incarcerated & a main Wally Jeff moonlights mysterious death I went over board to get enough bands to show & Zoorch also, not wanting to play our stage set up their own stage, the west London L.S.D.band were notable for their stamina & enthusiasm to the point of falling off our stage more than once. It was 5 foot high & based on h frames scaffolding, whereas zoorches was Much more ambient & on the ground, less work for my crew as for once our stage was put into 2nd place after a few days when zoorch suddenly turned up. We had copied festival organiser guru at the time, Bill Duyers 10 days Windsor festivals.

It was a good reunion at Max's lots of old faces including DR JOHN POLLARD Berkley/ California USA UCH London. Orrible Ian. (Old Convoy) contributed a poem check poems. The shed for the truck is half built with roof financial contributions are needed for Max. Fran (Old Polytantric, now a film director) came over from Ireland and might be making a film of The Polytantric Circle Reunion. I stepped in a blim caravan next to the old sheep drove that goes past Max's land. This sheep drove although out of use is the way the shepherds used to take the sheep to market. Bristol, Birmingham, London leading to London where they would be fattened up at Highbury Islington, and sold at the market for slaughter where after this the shepherds would drink in the Caledonian Arms with their takings before setting out for the long walk home. The train and the lorry ended this practice.

A lot of new age travellers have stuck to these droves and the ancient rights of way that were hard fought for. Even though they had to claim squatters rights due to the modern law challenging the ancient rights of way laws. Unfortunately their got evicted in their droves.

The Battle of the Beanfield, Book, ISBN (0-9523316-6-7)
Twenty Years since the Battle. The first comprehensive book, hopefully more to come.

Edited by Andy Worthington, with a photo of Rose and her baby on the front cover as well as photos and contributions by Alan Lodge, Tim Malyon, Neil Goowin, Garth Morris, Alan Dearling and Others.

This book is a combined effort of a large number of people who feel passionately that only through reaching an understanding of what actually occurred before, during and after "The Battle Of The Beanfield" can a proper closure take place for those involved and the many people who have in some way been touched by it.

Davey Graham

Davey Graham is the original guitar hero from the late 50's- early 60's, Part of the Alexis Corner Soho Jazz Posse, a man who revolutionised the way the instrument is played. Its not hard to see that Davey is a well travelled man with global influence. Having had the opportunity to meet with Davey and see him play a few songs I observed that Davey is not only a 1st class guitar legend, but also an individual with an amazing memory of experiences through his life with fantastic story telling capabilities which are just as entertaining and vibrant as his musicality, know by people through the world. Keep On Rockin Davey, We Luv Ya !!!
